Points to consider before beginning the Linksys Velop Tri Band Setup

  • Shut down the Linksys app if it is open.
  • Reset the node to erase the settings that may disrupt the setup. Hold the reset button for a few seconds until one solid red light flashes. It will be followed by three quick red pulses.
  • The modem will be power cycled.
  • The modem and the node needs to be attached using the ethernet cable

Linksys Velop Tri Band Setup process in the Web UI

  • Connect to the default wifi of the Velop. You can search for the wifi name and password below the device.
  • Open any prefered web browser like Google, Mozilla firefox and input the IP address of your parent node in the address bar. The default IP address of the Velop is 192.168.1.1. If it was altered, use that instead.
  • Select the ‘Click here’ link.
  • Input the administrator password in the required field and hit on ’Sign in’. Log in via Linksys server account may also help. If the node has been associated with a server account, select the ‘click here’ link and sign in using your email and password.
  • Click on the CA link present at the bottom of the dashboard.
  • Click on the connectivity option under the router settings.
  • If the node is not connected with the internet, visit the internet settings tab and select the correct internet connection type. The node must be online first before visiting the Velop setup tab.

Linksys Velop Tri Band Setup

  • Once the node goes online, Visit the ‘Velop Setup’ and enter the SSID and password for your network.
  • Click on the Setup Node button to proceed.
  • Check the computer’s wifi connection first. When the settings made have been saved on the node, you may need to connect to the new wifi name of your Velop network to continue.
  • After clicking the setup node button,
  • Set the node’s device mode to Master
  • Also, set the administrator password to admin.
  • Fix the node’s name/location to Node 1
  • When the first step is finished, the node is recognized as the parent node. You are finished with the setup finally. If you want to add child nodes, place them near the parent node and wait until solid purple light flashes. Now, choose the ‘Add wireless Child Nodes’ button.
  • Once a solid blue light starts appearing on all the nodes, click the ‘Done adding child nodes’ button then click apply or ok. You can now choose another location for them.

Setup with the help of Linksys app

Download and install the latest version of the Linksys app on your mobile device. For this, Go to the app store and search the Linksys. Install it afterwards and follow the screen instructions. You can now create a Linksys Smart wifi account so you can use the app to view and alter your Velop settings from anywhere you are able to access an internet connection.

You can even perform the following things with the Linksys Smart WiFi

  • Change the wifi name and the password.
  • Control the Guest access.
  • Connect the devices to wifi with WPS.
  • Block internet with parental control.
  • Check the internet connection speed.

An email for the verification will be sent from the home network. Click on the link in the email. You can personalise the wifi by giving it a different name and password. You can also assign the names to nodes and can locate them when things demand attention.

Set up process

  • Gather the essential items like the ethernet cable, Node and Power Cord. Get these items ready and place them where the current internet needs to be set up.
  • Find the power source near the modem. Connect it to the first node using the ethernet cable.

It is a browser-based administrative tool that helps in viewing and changing the settings in the Velop system. Before you continue, make sure you have the following things ready.

  • A configured parent node.
  • A computer that is connected to the parent node.
  • An existing Linksys cloud account.

  • Firstly, connect the computer/laptop with the Velop network, and open a web browser.
