Linksys Velop issues

Linksys Velop Keeps Dropping Connection? Here is the guide to fix the issue

There is nothing more frustrating than irregular wifi and frequent dropping connection on your Linksys Velop. While there may be several potential causes behind this, the good news is that with these causes comes the solution as well. Go through this blog to know more about the connection dropping issues with their essential troubleshooting tips while working on the Velop Setup process.

Causes behind Linksys Velop keeps Disconnecting

There could be an end number of reasons behind the dropping wireless connection while you begin with the Linksys velop setup process. Let us discuss some of them below:

  • Firstly, when the firmware of the router is not upgraded to the latest version.
  • There is frequency interference from the other wifi devices.
  • When the wifi router is generating lower signal quality.
  • The MTU ( Maximum Transmission Unit) size of the network is not determined.
  • You are working with the mismatched router and the adapter settings.
  • The adapter’s driver of the computer needs to be upgraded.
  • Issue of the power outage.

Some troubleshooting tips to fix the dropping connection issue

Before beginning with the troubleshooting tips, just ensure that the wireless devices have a stable internet connection. They must be connected to the wifi properly to prevent any issues ahead. Just check the wifi connectivity of other devices in the network. Now, go through some helpful tips and tricks to solve the issue of Linksys Velop Keeps Disconnecting and more.

Reducing the interference from wifi

You can change the Velop’s channel from 1 to 11 if you find that the router is operating on the same frequency as the cordless telephone system. These channels are generally considered to be less overlapping channels. Once you assign a specific channel to your select devices, it makes network management easier and allows you to reduce issues due to wifi interference. You can restart your device after changing the channel.

Remove any physical obstruction

It is obvious that the wifi device might be losing its connectivity because of physical obstructions like the walls or the floors. There are fewer chances of any disturbance if the path between the devices is cleared. Always remember that the router must be within the line of sight of the computer. This will always ensure a smooth and stable wireless connection between the devices. You can place your devices in a different location.

The router and the adapter settings are mismatched

Pair your wireless-N routers with the wireless-N adapters in a similar way like wireless -G routers need to be paired with Wireless-G adapters. If there is a mix of wireless-G and N adapters connecting to the network, set the wifi mode to Mixed in that case. This will ensure a stable connection between the Wireless-G devices and the network. You can still connect to the network but the performance will be based on the Wireless-G speed.

Upgrade the adapter driver of the computer

Device manufacturers release updates to the network drivers and other system files at regular intervals. You can keep a track of the same or enable the automatic updates option to help with the driver update process.

For better connectivity, install the updated driver. If the network drivers are outdated, they may not give you the performance the one with the latest driver may do. Updating the drivers will enhance device performance and you will get a seamless connection.

Router’s placement

Before planning to place a router so the Linksys Velop Keeps Disconnecting error doesn’t occur, keep the following guidelines in mind:

  • It is always suggested to place the router at a height. If you are placing the router at a higher location, just leave a distance of at least 2 feet between the router antenna tips, ceiling, and wall.
  • If the signal passes via multiple floors, you can then place the router on the uppermost floor and at a good height in the room.
  • The ideal location is the central part of the house. Also, keep in mind to avoid the movement of the wifi device within 18 inches from the router, as this is considered a wifi dead zone.
  • Always remember to maintain a distance between the router and the large metal objects.
  • Lastly, avoid placing the router close to an area where the concentration of water is high.

Change the wifi settings of the Velop

It is always recommended to change the wifi settings of the router once you configure it. As the default settings can cause conflict with other routers which are in your network range. Changing the router settings keeps your router safe from any third-party configuration or access. So, you must change your router’s wireless settings if you haven’t changed them till now.

Power Outage issues

Sudden power interruptions and failures are inevitable issues. If the connection drops after this and takes time to recover, wait for a few minutes. Still, if the connection issue persists, you can power cycle the router. Switch off your device and then unplug it from the power adapter. You can wait for at least 10 seconds and plug it back again.

Keep the firmware of your Linksys Velop updated to the latest version

You might have to perform the firmware upgrade process to stabilize your wifi connection. Avoid working with outdated firmware as this can cause several issues in the router’s working. Also, update the firmware of the wifi adapter as well.

Linksys Velop Reset

The Linksys Velop reset process is the final resort to resolving issues with the Velop router. So, you must always avoid exercising this option. Only if the above troubleshooting tips are unresponsive, you must resort to the reset process. Doing so will delete all the network settings and send back your device to the factory settings state. Follow the steps given below to reset your Velop Setup:

  • Firstly, connect the node to the power source and turn it on. Press the reset button present on the bottom now.
  • Keep holding it for a few seconds.
  • The light on the node will turn red first and then it will fade in pulses.
  • Don’t release the button until the light goes out. Wait till it turns bright red.

If you possess more than a single node in the Velop system. You can reset them all to factory defaults. This can be done by resetting the main node. With this, you are done resetting and can begin again with the Linksys velop setup process.

Conclusion

You can make use of the steps given above to fix the Linksys Velop connection dropping issue. If you want more assistance with the Linksys Velop router setup, you can reach out to the team of experts at our end.
