Important things to consider
When looking to set up your Linksys E5400 dual-band wifi router, you’ll need to have some details and equipment handy. These are:
- Ethernet cable(s)
- The admin username and password
- The default web or IP address
You can find the default username, password, and IP address on the product label only. These details on the product manual of the device. For now, here are the details you can refer to:

In order to access the Linksys Cloud Manager 1.0 or the setup wizard, you’ll need to follow the login process first. The default web address or the IP address can help you get there. However, there are some conditions you need to keep in mind.
To ensure you can interact with the setup wizard, make sure your computer/smartphone has a connection with the WiFi. Since the login page is based on the local device server, access is only possible upon successful connection. After forming a connection, you may continue to operate through the same. You can connect the same using either a wired or wireless connection.
For a wired connection, connect an ethernet cable between the LAN ports of your networking devices securely. For a wireless connection, open the wireless manager on your device, and connect to the router network SSID. If you are connecting for the first time, you won’t need any password for it.
Once a connection is made, you can begin with accessing the router login page. Here are the steps you can follow:
- Launch a web browser and in the address bar, type in the default web address www.linksyssmartwifi.com or the IP address 192.168.1.1, and press Enter.
- The Linksys Velop E5400 wifi router login page will appear on the screen. The first time that you are logging in, the login page will ask you to specify an admin password and username. Type in the same in the fields available and click on the Next button.

Configuring the wifi router network

- Specify an SSID for the 5GHz band as well. Try to keep a different name to this band, since it will be easier to identify later. Type a password here as well. Select the network encryption type and click on the Next button.

From the ‘Link your Devices to the Cloud’ page, log in to the Linksys cloud account if you have any. If not, create a new account using the ‘Create new Accounts’ button. Once done, click on the ‘Save and Next’ button. The device will now reboot and you will be logged out of the setup wizard. You will see the screen as shown.
- You may now use the specified login credentials and log in to your Linksys Velop router setting wizard.
- Once the router settings have been configured, you can connect your wireless devices to the newly set up network. Use the credentials specified during the setup process.
